Class of 1972
Barry David Mullis, 65, passed away suddenly on March 15,
2019 in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Barry was born in Phenix City, Alabama to Graden and Emily
Mullis on March 9, 1954. He was a graduate of Berry
Academy in Rome, Georgia and Abraham Baldwin
Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia where he earned his
degree in Wildlife Technology.
He began his career in 1978 with the Georgia Department of
Natural Resources. Barry served as Area Manager, Wildlife
Technician, and Law Enforcement Officer at the Clark Hill
Wildlife Management Area from 1978-1995 and the Blue
Ridge Wildlife Management Area from 1995-2009. He was
very active in the Mountain Search and Rescue Team and in
wild turkey population restoration. You can see his picture on
the wall in the Macon, Georgia Bass Pro Shop.
Barry loved nature and the outdoors and was an avid hunter
and fisherman. Upon retirement, Barry spent almost every
morning fishing from the pier at St. Andrews State Park in
Panama City Beach, Florida.
He was preceded in death by Graden Mullis (father). Barry is
survived by Emily Mullis (mother), Justin David Mullis (son),
Brooke Mullis Gill (daughter), Parker David Gill (grandson),
and Donna Mullis Gaylor (sister).
